O'Vento
As its name suggests,
O'Vento ("the wind" in Galician-Portuguese) specializes in Mediterranean cuisine
with an assorted array of chicken, beef, pork and seafood dishes. The idea was
taken from different places, such as Germany, Mexico City, Quebec and Spain. The
partners, Alfredo Laparte, Bianca Dufour, Theda Bruske and Gerardo Herrero, are
enjoying their first culinary business experience. From its very reasonably priced
menu, the O'Vento fish fillet with shrimp and mushrooms covered in Dijon sauce
and white wine stands out.
Other suggestions are the Mediterranean medallions with red wine and the chef's
sauces for each main entr¯e. The d¯cor, in white and blue, is simple and elegant,
while the ceiling fans and wood furnishings provide a marine atmosphere. In addition
to the main dining room, the restaurant features sidewalk tables.
O'Vento is becoming a hangout place that caters to a crowd of late diners on their
way to the disco club area. With an independent schedule and metropolitan East
Coast music playing until around 4 a.m., O'Vento is the perfect place for a nightcap.
