Balam
Conveniently set on
Restaurant Row (Basilio Badillo), Balam is an unpretentious, almost familiar place
that specializes in seafood. It was founded in 1987, but has reopened with new
administration. Nevertheless, they continue offering its famous pescado zarandeadoa
specialty from the neighboring state of Nayarit salted grilled white fish
served with a special sauce.
Shrimp occupies a significant place on their menu, like the mignon shrimp
(baby shrimp wrapped in bacon, grilled and bathed in a lobster and mushrooms
sauce) that the chef recommends accompanying with a good white wine.
Their well-assorted red and white wine list includes German, Spanish, French and brands from diverse countries. You can also choose the bittersweet shrimp bathed in pineapple and white wine sauce or shrimp empanadas (rolls).
Other recommendations are the lobster salad, oyster cream, mussels, fish filet and their astonishing crab tacos!
