Who knew that such amazing talent lies within the walls of a Puerto Vallarta school? Recently we had the privilege of seeing actors Hannalore and Jayce for the first time in “My Fair Lady,” although they have participated in previous American School annual productions and been active in Puerto Vallarta’s growing theater community. Co-starring as Eliza Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins, they were extraordinary! Their voices, their stage presence, absolutely fabulous.
Director Renee Perez deserves much of the credit, getting strong performances from all the students, who rehearse for long hours yet keep up with their schoolwork.
Aspiring to the professional stage, Jayce plans to transfer to a US acting academy. But Hannalore has one more year at the school, so we can look forward to another great performance there.
This 1956 Lerner and Lowe musical was very well done, featuring stunning costumes, zippy choreography, elaborate scene changes and live musical accompaniment.
Now wouldn’t it be lovely if Puerto Vallarta had more of that?
