In the first of a seven-part feature, we take a closer look at the 45 restaurants that will participate in this year’s Restaurant Week, May 15 - 31. We begin with the $299-menu participants, continue with the $189 participants, and wrap up the series with all restaurants participating in Restaurant Week for the first time.

From the very first edition, eight years ago, Vallarta Lifestyles’ Restaurant Week has been a very successful event, encouraging visitors and locals to enjoy some of their favorite restaurants (or try new ones) at reduced prices during the month of May. While the idea was not original—restaurant week-type events have been taking place in cities around the world for some time—it was definitely new for Puerto Vallarta.

We begin by taking a look at restaurants offering $299 per person menus. Learn more about the details and menus for each restaurant by visiting this page.

The exclusive Blanca Blue is back in Restaurant Week, this time, with a new chef, Leopoldo Cortés. A Thierry Blouet disciple, Cortés began his culinary career in Puerto Vallarta over 20 years ago, and has recently returned after spending time in Costa Rica to what he has referred to as “a homecoming.”

Always a popular choice among Restaurant Week fans, the elegant Café des Artistes always draws a lot of interest during the event, as Executive Chef Hugo Ahumada works creatively to present an affordable menu that proudly represents the restaurants culinary standards.

Without a doubt, Daiquiri Dick’s is one of the most successful restaurants on Los Muertos Beach because it offers both comfortable open air and completely al fresco seating. Daiquiri Dick’s features their own, on-site deli where you can also purchase staple creations from their menu to take home.

If live music is your thing, you will definitely enjoy exploring DeSantos. The hip restaurant invites bands from Guadalajara and other parts of the country on a weekly basis, that provide the ideal backdrop for a fun dinner experience.

Nuevo Vallarta’s gourmet restaurant selection has increased by leaps and bounds over the past few years, and Ginger Garden Lounge is a perfect place to explore if you enjoy asian food. A variety of sake-based martinis—aptly called saketinis—is definitely worth sampling.

Hacienda San Angel Gourmet’s privileged view of Puerto Vallarta’s El Centro and Emiliano Zapata neighborhoods, not to mention the rest of the bay, is as mesmerizing as the property itself: an eclectic collection of interconnected traditional Puerto Vallarta homes, resulting in one of our city’s finest and most exclusive hotels. Perfect for watching the nightly fireworks!

One of the neighborhoods that has benefited the most from ongoing city-wide improvements is Emiliano Zapata. In the heart of it, on Olas Altas St. Kaiser Maximilian is an ideal restaurant for a quiet meal with friends (inside) or for lively people watching right on the sidewalk cafe-style seating area.

In part two of this feature we will explore the remainder restaurants offering $299 per-person menus during Restaurant Week.
