More than two years ago, an art project was undertaken in Puerto Vallarta that uses the city’s vacant public spaces as its canvas and concepts from the controversial graffiti art movement as its tools. Far from the stereotypical image of a vandal surreptitiously defacing fences and walls, respected graffiti artist Bue the Warrior conveys positive energy and good vibes to tourists and locals alike with his original creations.

Bue, originally from Belgium, sought out a variety of spaces, including outlying neighborhoods beyond Vallarta’s tourist areas where his work could bring joy to children. He also created murals at Radio Universidad del Centro Universitario de la Costa and inside de Santos restaurant. Other Bue murals can be found in Germany, Spain, France, New York and Los Angeles. Now he has returned once again to continue his work here. To learn more, visit Bue’s website at toykyo.be.
