Originally from Peru, with 18 years of experience and dedication to the art of gastronomy, Roberto Chávez comes to the River Café as a guest Chef during the International Gourmet Festival in 2012 and decides to stay after spending 2 weeks in our beautiful Puerto Vallarta.
Internationally recognized in the Who's Who of Chefs in the United States, 33-year-old Chávez Oviedo found his calling while working at a hotel in Lima. He graduated from Cenfotur School in Lima with a degree in international cuisine in 2004. After completing his studies, he accepted a position in Los Cabos, where he remained for the next five years working as chef in the Hotel Meliá Cabo Real's La Terraza Restaurant.
Roberto Chávez has formed a philosophy of responsibility, harmony and passion for cooking at The River Café; with a Healthy Cuisine concept that offers a Gourmet fusion with a traditional flair that focuses on the respect for nature resources.
