Innovative Work Featured Architectural Digest. Architect, designer, restaurateur and shop owner, Peter Bowman, is well known and respected for his many ventures in and around the Puerto Vallarta area, but currently his name and achievements are being put in the forefront of the architectural world around the globe, by having his work featured in the December 2009 issue of the prestigious magazine, Architectural Digest.
The article tells the story of how Bowman was approached by clients who had first become aware of his work when they stayed at a property he had designed, and later ordered decorating items from his store, the Banderas Bay Trading Company. When these clients purchased property in Punta de Mita and asked Bowman to help them renovate, this relatively small project subsequently evolved into a demolition when it was discovered that the original home lacked structural integrity, and the decision was made to tear it down and start from scratch. Bowman worked tirelessly with architects Guillermo Michel Renteria and Alvaro Gomez Flores and the clients, who wanted a carefully designed space to accommodate their growing collection of Mexican art, furniture and antiques.
And the end result was a magnificent contemporary style hacienda residence full of bold colored interiors and unique decorating items, which was constructed and oriented to capture the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Bowman enjoyed every moment of this dream assignment as like himself, the owners shared his passion for shopping and on occasion, even took Bowman with them in their private jet to fly to another country on a whim, to shop for a particular must have item; often picking up two of the same, just in case…
These days Bowman is back in Puerto Vallarta, having decided that this design venture was his last big project. So if you’re looking for decorating advice, or that special accent piece or timeless antique to rejuvenate your living space, visit Bowman at the Banderas Bay Trading Company, located at Lazaro Cardenas 263.
