Not so much a best-of, per-se, but people sure kept talking about this one for a few days! January 15, 2010 began like a normal day throughout Banderas Bay, although the weather had been unusually cold in the previous days, with strong winds and heavy rains. Sometime during the morning, a waterspout—a rotating column of water formed by a whirlwind occurring over the sea or other body of water—was sighted over the ocean, clearly visible from several points of the bay, including Puerto Vallarta. Commonly observed in tropical and sub-tropical climates, such as the Florida Keys, waterspouts are extremely rare in this part of Mexico. However, it gave a few lucky photographers, such as Ramón Casillas (www.mexfoto.com), a perfect photo-op!
