We live in a throw-away world, so it is inspiring to see a large local tour operator, Vallarta Adventures, make such a sincere commitment to our environment. Through proactive and sustained initiatives, they’re truly making a difference. Their efforts include the following:
• Using washable plastic glasses, cloth napkins and placemats on tours and boats.
• Using bins to separate trash on land and onboard into water bottles, organic and inorganic waste.
• Recycling plastic water bottles and cardboard.
• Rescuing stranded and entangled whales.
• The preservation and conservation of 400 hectares of subtropical forest.
• An active reforestation project.
• Donating leftover food to local orphanages and Children of the Dump, and the organization/funding of a project to make Las Marietas Islands a UNESCO Wildlife Reserve. www.vallarta-adventures.com.
