Siblings Carina, age 26, and Luis Enrique Mendoza Rodriguez, 20, are two of the most outstanding alumni of the Xiutla municipal folkloric ballet directed by Professor Enrique Barrios Limón. For more than 14 years, the two have been involved with Xiutla, a cultural institution that represents Puerto Vallarta around the world, now passing on their knowledge to incoming members.

With seven years as an instructor within the group, Carina sees her teaching ability as just the first step on the road to becoming a teacher at the long-awaited dance academy Xiutla hopes to found in our city. Although Luis sees his involvement with ballet as a very personal gift, he is determined to instill children with a love of the group and a commitment to remain united over time.
