Starting in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, 20 km of Carr. 200 Norte to Punta de Mita are free of litter, thanks to the cleanup efforts of the Punta de Mita Foundation. This is the first stage of a large-scale project that will rely on educational institutions, as well as small and large businesses in the area, to establish an educational program that promotes environmental cleanup of this important tourist area. The foundation also is conferring with the municipal government of Bahía de Banderas to fine those who litter.
