After years of failed attempts, an agreement has been signed between Puerto Vallarta and Bahia de Banderas that will benefit both municipalities’ tourism, economic, cultural and social situations. The official ceremony was held March 5 in the newly opened Teatro Vallarta, bringing together the mayors of both municipalities, Salvador Gonzalez Resendiz and Hector Paniagua, accompanied by members of their respective councils. Thanks to this agreement, federal resources that both municipalities must apply for jointly may be requested. One of the first projects planned for these resources is a new bridge over the Ameca river, estimated to cost $100 million pesos. The agreement also provides for unified regulation of visual image, transportation and public safety in the two areas.
