Viva Natura Field Guide Becomes iPhone App

Published Apr 9, 2014, 4:26pm -

Nature photographer and researcher Petr Myska, known for his bilingual Field Guide to the Amphibians, Reptiles Birds and Mammals of Western Mexico, recently announced an iPhone-compatible version. The very comprehensive work, which grew from 250 to 300 pages in its second edition less than a year ago, features 240 species of local fauna, along with more than 450 color photographs.

A unique feature of the app, which can be purchased through the iTunes store, taps into the iPhone’s global positioning system (GPS), allowing users to submit geo-coded sighting reports to inaturalist.org, a community-based website that allows anyone to record what they see in nature, meet other nature lovers and learn about the natural world. Find a link to the Viva Natura iPhone App at vivanatura.org.
