Well-known singer Vikki Carr, recently performed at a lavish private party held Hacienda Palo Maria and organized by the owner of the Hacienda, Philip Stewart. Without a doubt, this event will be remembered for many years as one of the most lavish Vallarta parties in recent memory. The more than 200 people in attendance enjoyed a perfect evening with excellent food, an eclectic atmosphere by the sea and the extraordinary voice of Vikki Carr, who has been a friend of Mr. Stewart for several years.
The party was organized by Stewart, for his family and many of his former high school classmates that had been vacationing in Vallarta during the week leading up to the event. The guest list was rounded out with help of Maria O'Connor who took the opportunity to convene a fun group of local personalities to join in the celebration. The five-course menu was prepared by a group of seven professional chefs that highlighted the presence of the Pelayo brothers, who are well known in Puerto Vallarta for their long career in the gourmet field. Harpist D'Rachel and mariachi Joya de Mexico entertained during the dinner and Stewart took the opportunity to thank everyone for attending, as well as congratulating his daughter Meredith Stewart Ellis who was celebrating her birthday.
As a finale to the evening, Carr took the stage. She started her set from an angel sculpture, located behind at the back of the space where the concert was held. She then gracefully walked among the guests and finally reached the spectacular stage especially built for the occasion, which was located right next to the ocean. With a spectacular sunset as a backdrop, Carr sang her greatest hits in Spanish and English in front of enthusiastic guests who applauded throughout the show. During her performance Carr recalled her previous visit to Puerto Vallarta in 1969, when she stayed at Casa Pedro. It was on that same trip when she met the painter Manuel Lepe, who she said was a great person and artist.
Carr has enjoyed an amazing 45-year career, and has performed for five presidents of the United States and the Queen of England!
