Grab a blanket, dress up your "best friend" and head over to Daiquiri Dick's on December 9th, 2006 for the first, and hopefully annual, Pet Picnic. Proceeds from this fun-filled fundraiser will help support the Puerto Vallarta Animal Shelter.
Offering Puerto Vallarta visitors and pet owners a chance to have some fun in the sun for a worthy cause, and dogs to strut their stuff and enjoy some treats, the Pet Picnic starts at noon and runs until 3 pm on the beach and lower patio of Daiquiri Dick's Restaurant on Playa de los Muertos.
"We are excited about this event because we love animals," says Daiquiri Dick's owner, Tari Bowman. "It gives us a chance to meet other dog and cat admirers, as well as contribute to a very worthy cause." According to Tari the big challenge is to encourage people to respect animals, besides to promote pet spaying.
No dog? No problem! Everyone is welcome to join Pet Picnic for canine obedience and training demonstrations, a fashion show, doggy gift bags, and a raffle with all kinds of great prizes for animals, as well as humans. Delicious boxed picnic lunch prepared by the chefs at Daiquiri Dick's, consisting of a gourmet sandwich, fruit, a cookie and one non-alcoholic beverage, while the dogs scarf down savory snack packs.
All Pet Picnic proceeds will help fund the construction of a cat facility and the purchase of a laser unit used for spaying animals at El Centro de Acopio Puerto Vallarta. Shelter employees will also be available to answer your questions and show off some of the prize pets that are up for adoption at the Puerto Vallarta Animal Shelter.
Tickets for the 2006 Puerto Vallarta Pet Picnic are $150 pesos in advance or $200 at the door. Space is limited, so stop by Daiquiri Dick's at Olas Altas #314, or call 222-0566 to get your tickets today!
