The Metropolitan Opera Announces 2013-2014 Live in HD Season
New York’s Metropolitan Opera has just announced their 2013-2014 Live in HD Season, giving classical music lovers and opera enthusiasts good reasons to rejoice. Puerto Vallarta’s Teatro Vallarta began broadcasting The Met’s Live in HD broadcasts during the current season, providing locals and visitors yet another reason to be in town.
New York’s Metropolitan Opera has just announced their 2013-2014 Live in HD Season, giving classical music lovers and opera enthusiasts good reasons to rejoice. The program was developed as a way to reach existing audiences and to introduce new audiences to opera through new technology. Puerto Vallarta’s Teatro Vallarta began broadcasting The Met’s Live in HD broadcasts during the current season successfully, providing locals and visitors yet another reason to be in town whenever such broadcasts take place.
The 2013-2014 season will include several new productions (indicated with a “*” in the schedule, below), along with a few favorites, such as Puccini’s La Bohème, one of the most frequently performed operas worldwide. Those unfamiliar with the broadcasts still have three opportunities to experience them during the current season, with Wagner’s Parsifal being shown this weekend, Zandonai’s Francesca de Rimini on March 16, and Handel’s Giulio Cesare on April 27. - Puccini’s La Bohème • April 5
- Mozart’s Così fan tutte • April 26
- Rossini’s La Cenerentola • May 10
