Teatro Vallarta is presently promoting the upcoming performance of the “Mari El” Russian State Ballet in Puerto Vallarta, to take place on Wednesday, October 9, at 8 pm. The touring company, comprised of young ballet dancers, will perform Don Quixote, a ballet originally choreographed by Marius Petipa for the Ballet of the Imperial Bolshoi Theater of Moscow. "Mari El" is presently touring through Mexico and is making a return visit to Puerto Vallarta. The company has received three consecutive nominations to the prestigious Las Lunas award, bestowed by Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional to outstanding national and international artists on a yearly basis.
The original story of Don Quixote, a Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and published for the first time in 1605, follows the adventures of Alonso Quijano, a gentleman who reads so many chivalry novels, he decides to become a hero using the pseudonym of Don Quixote, recruiting a farmer, Sancho Panza, as his sidekick.
Tickets are $350 and $250 pesos per person, available at Teatro Vallarta’s website.
