In efforts to continue promoting Puerto Vallarta as an exceptional tourism destination, Sandunga Entertainment, N’Movimiento (Dynamic Dance & Fitness Studio) and dancers, Rodrigo Cortazar and Selene Tovar, have collaborated to organize the city’s first Salsa & Mambo Festival. The Salsa & Mambo Festival is a 3-day event, from March 9-11, where attendees will be able to participate in dance education workshops, watch performances by nationally and internationally known performers, and meet new people during various social dancing opportunities. Workshops will take place at the Las Palmas by the Sea resort in Puerto Vallarta’s Hotel Zone, and performances are scheduled to thrill audiences at the Los Arcos theatre stage, Señor Frog’s, and J&B Dancing Club.

On Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10, workshops will take place on both days between 11:00am and 2:00pm at the Las Palmas resort. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the dances of Salsa, Mambo, Ladies Styling, Afrocuban rhythms, Rueda de Casino, Cuban Son, and contemporary dance. Although some workshops are geared towards intermediate and advanced level dancers, many are suitable for beginners, so newcomers to the world of salsa are encouraged to attend.

After a full day of workshops, the inauguration of the event will commence at 7:30pm on March 9 at Los Arcos amphitheater in the Malecón. The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy performances by top quality dancers from both Puerto Vallarta and other areas of Mexico.

At around 10:00pm the real night of celebrations begins with a “White Night” party at Señor Frog’s in which attendees will be encouraged to come dressed in white. Another set of highly acclaimed dancers will take the stage to display their award winning talents, followed by a night of social dancing to the rhythms of Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Cha-cha-cha.

Celebrations continue on Saturday night with an event known as the “Mambo Night: Dress to Impress” gala at the J&B Dancing Club at 10:00pm. World Latin dance cup champions, Ernesto Lopez & Maritza Gonzalez, as well as internationally known dancers, Rodrigo Cortazar & Selene Tovar, Jorge Martinez & Lupita Garcia, plus many others will give a performance that is not to be missed. After the dance performances have finished, a live orchestra and DJs will close the night with some music for social dancing.

The final day of the festival is dedicated to those who simply were not able to dance enough over the previous days. There will be an opportunity to continue dancing to the energetic sounds of salsa throughout the day in Las Palmas resort and participants in Sunday’s set of events will also be able to relax and savor a few cocktails at Las Palmas resort. At night, the closing party will take place at La Isla (located in Plaza Peninsula) beginning at 10:30pm.

Ticket prices for the weekend’s array of activities range from 100 pesos to 500 pesos, or an all access Full Pass is available for only 800 pesos.
