Nuevo Vallarta Seeks EarthCheck Certification

Published Jul 23, 2014, 1:55pm -

Riviera Nayarit’s Conventions & Visitors Bureau has just announced that Nuevo Vallarta is seeking certification by EarthCheck, the international agency devoted to researching and developing the best solutions for conserving and caring for our planet.

The official affiliation calls for developing programs of continued improvement and sound environmental practices to reach certification. To achieve this, a committee must be established with participation by the government, private sector, academia and the society at large.

To set things in motion, Lorenzo Alfaro, EarthCheck coordinator in Huatulco, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo and Loreto, offered a presentation to Nuevo Vallarta hotel representatives and neighborhood association about the achievements in Huatulco, the only community in the entire continent that has been continuously certified by EarthCheck for the past decade.

Several hotels in Riviera Nayarit have been certified by EarthCheck for their commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility: Mayan Palace, Grand Mayan, Ocean Breeze, Grand Bliss, Grand Luxxe, Grand Palladium, Hotel Cinco, and most recently, Hard Rock Hotel.
