Los Muertos Pier Pedestrian Access Ready for Prime Time

Folks spending time away from Puerto Vallarta during the Summer months will be pleasantly surprised with the new pedestrian access to Los Muertos Pier in Colonia Emiliano Zapata, along Francisca Rodríguez St. Previously, the dead-end block between Olas Altas and the beach allowed limited parking along the narrow street, resulting in less-than-ideal access for pedestrians. With all the renovations in place, visitors and locals can now enjoy a broad promenade through which they can reach one of Puerto Vallarta’s most beautiful landmarks.
Once flattened, the street was loosely divided in half lengthwise, allowing restaurants on the southern sidewalk (Archie’s Wok, Peking) to create terraces that may be used for outdoor seating during the Winter months. Limited vehicular access is allowed only for delivery trucks making runs to businesses along both sides of the street. Landscaping, in progress, is being handled by the Vallarta Garden Club, and local mosaic artist Natasha Moraga has been commissioned to create one-of-a-kind tiled benches that add a whimsical touch to the entire block.
This project, along with others expected to take place during the rest of the Summer, is part of the municipality’s continuing effort to improve Puerto Vallarta’s infrastructure, maintaining its place among the most coveted beach destinations in all of Mexico.
