Open Water Swimming Competition Returns: Apr 10, 2012
The second edition of Aguas Abiertas Riviera Nayarit will take place Saturday, April 21, 8 am, at Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. Approximately 300 swimmers in all categories are expected to participate.

Gary Thompson’s Malecon Sculpture Tours Finish for the Season: Apr 9, 2012
Tuesday, April 17 will be the last day for the Malecon Sculpture Walking Tour for this season, which is the sixth year for this free tour. As has been the case every Tuesday morning at 9:30 since this season’s tours started on November 16th, no reservations are necessary and one must only show up at the Millennium sculpture next to Hotel Rosita at the north end of the Malecon.

Featuring a casual environment, affordable prices and a spectacular sunset view, Garza Blanca recently opened a new restaurant within the resort: Bocados STK. It’s concept was designed by local chef Kori Sutton with meat eaters in mind.

Aerojal, a new regional airline serving the route from Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara is expected to begin operating in June. A small fleet of 50-passenger, Canadian-made Bombardier CRJ200 jet planes will eventually connect the state of Jalisco with many important destinations throughout the country.

Riviera Nayarit Nautical Extravaganza Concludes Successfully: Mar 27, 2012
Riviera Nayarit wrapped up the annual Nautical Extravaganza with the Banderas Bay International Regatta competition, the last of several nautical events, from kitesurfing to stand-up paddleboarding, that took place throughout the month of March. This year’s event began with the San Diego to Puerto Vallarta Race, a traditional bi-annual competition that has taken place for the last 31 years.

This is the first time in which the event becomes itinerant, making Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit its first stop.

Raicilla has a reputation for being created and sold without government approval, but recently Hacienda el Divisadero in Cabo Corrientes has been making and selling it legally, and you can sample this Raicilla, plus Tequila Real and Tequila Rebozo, at a special "The Spirits of Mexico" tasting at Daiquiri Dick's restaurant on Thursday, March 29, from 4 to 6 pm.

Local photographer Petr Myska will screen his documentary, Touch of the Blue Crocodile, which takes a close look at the American crocodile in the jungles of Mexico, one of its natural habitats at the Juan Luis Cifuentes Lemus Auditorium at the Centro Universitario de la Costa on Tuesday, March 20, at 6 pm. Learn more about this exciting project.
