As the world leader in CPR, first aid and emergency cardiovascular care (ECC) training and education, the American Heart Association offers a variety of options for emergency responders and the general public to learn lifesaving skills.  A portion of the funds raised from the sales of the 2014 Heroes calendar in Puerto Vallarta will support accredited professional training as well as training in outlying areas and for local businesses.  An estimated 20 million people died from heart disease in 2013. Over 80% of heart disease related deaths take place in low- and middle-income countries.

The 2014 Heroes calendar generated over $200,000 pesos—about $20,000 USD—to support local community programs. Event organizers and sponsors were recognized at a special ceremony this week coordinated by Mayor Ramón Guerrero and Sergio Ramírez López from Civil Protection.
