Colectika Reopens for a Third Season

Colectika, Puerto Vallarta’s only art gallery devoted to Mexico’s ancestral/contemporary folk art, has just announced re-opening for its third season. Located in El Centro, the gallery strives to show both collectors and fans of Mexican folk art the next generation of works based on ancient traditions, but executed in a way that will fit into today’s contemporary decor.
The gallery is owned by Kevin and Beatriz Simpson, who also own Peyote People near Puerto Vallarta’s Main Plaza. For many years, they have both developed strong professional and personal bonds with many of the artists and artisans they exhibit at their shops, some of which make scheduled visits to Puerto Vallarta. This, in turn, provides Mexican folk art enthusiasts the opportunity to have personal contact with these unique creators, who frequently live in remote Mexican villages.
Colectika mentions that they have exciting exhibitions scheduled for the coming months and will announce dates for a new series of anthropological talks where the origin of art will be discussed, along with the traditions from which it has evolved. Colectika is located at Guadalupe Sánchez 852, in El Centro.
