September is a curious month in Puerto Vallarta. On the one hand, it is considered to be the slowest Summer month as far as tourism and commercial activity is concerned. On the other hand, there seems to be a changing shift in the mindset of local businesses and event producers, looking for creative ways to infuse the month with much-needed activity. September is, after all, the month in which Mexico celebrates its independence from the Spanish colonial authorities (September 15), bringing an influx of national tourists to our destination during the weekend around this very important, official holiday.

Many popular restaurants choose to close during part of of the month, or its entirety, to give their staff a well deserved break or to implement renovations and upgrades. Fortunately for the rest of us, there are plenty of amazing dining options available throughout the city, and we did a bit of homework on your behalf, putting together the following list of choice restaurants that will remain open through September, and continuing into the Fall/Winter season. (Some restaurants may close for a day or two each week, so it’s always wise to call ahead.)
