Highly favored by local, Spanish-speaking audiences, the performances by Cartelera Escénica offer foreign residents and visitors a glimpse into some of the many art performances being put together by local talent.

Friday, November 8 • 8:30 pm: Perla Alarcón

Local singer/songwriter Perla Alarcón will offer a show based on her self-released compact disc, “Horizonte Azul,” recorded in Spain under the helm of acclaimed producer, Sergio Cascales. The disc features ten original songs and two covers. Alarcón sings about all stages of love, from beginning to end, and is backed up by her own band, De Perlas, featuring bay-area musicias such as Al Ramírez on electric guitar; Daniel Márquez on bass, Edén Fernandez on drums, Óscar on keyboards and Sarahí Guerrero doing background vocals.

Friday, November 15 • 8:30 pm: Humberto Álvarez

The acclaimed musician and sound healer Humberto Álvarez returns to Puerto Vallarta to reprise his successful Harmonics Concert with Nahuatl Mantras, performed with tibetan and quartz crystal singing bowls. It is well known that certain harmonic sounds have strong healing properties and have been used on sound therapy and medical clinics worldwide to promote wellness. This very spiritual and one-of-a-kind evening will feature songs and mantras written by Álvarez, along with a collective meditation that will allow participants to peacefully focus on their inner energy.

Friday, November 22 • 8:30 pm: Adriana Quinto’s Ángeles

Contemporary dancer and instructor Adriana Quinto presents her latest montage, titled Ángeles, or angels, in which she recreates some of her own life experiences—from crises to joyful moments—with gratitude, through dance.

Friday, November 29 • 8 pm: Duende Flamenco

To wrap up the month’s events, Cartelera Escénica brings together the talents of flamenco dancer Gabriela Raigosa and Tatewari, a flamenco guitar ensemble from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, to showcase their own creativity, manifested through this temperamental, yet poetic, musical style. The evening will also feature selected works by the famous Spanish poet, Federico García Lorca, interpreted by actor/director Rolando Bárcenas.
