The PuRR Project, a no-kill cat shelter located just north of Puerto Vallarta, has just announced a fundraising event, to take place at Los Alcatraces (Jesús Rodríguez Barba St., behind COSTCO) on Wednesday, August 21 at 5 pm. The highlight of the evening will be playing Lotería, or Mexican bingo, allowing attendees to win a variety of prizes and improve their Spanish at the same time.

Prizes include restaurant and Starbucks gift certificates, bottles of adult beverages, haircut and massage gift certificates and much more. The lotería caller will be Elizabeth Ensor, one of the founding partners of Act II Entertainment, Puerto Vallarta’s newest theatrical entertainment company. During the evening, Ensor will share information about Act II’s upcoming theater season.

Los Alcatraces, a popular Mexican restaurant that is also air-conditioned—a plus during the summer months!—is the bright yellow building just beside Costco, on Jesús Rodríguez Barba, one block from the Francisco Villa bus route. All proceeds benefit the 120+ cats residing at PuRR Project. Donations are 501 (c) (3) tax-deductible in the US. For more information about the PuRR Project, visit their website.
