Becas Vallarta, A.C., the time-honored, non-profit organization, recently announced their annual Becas Ball, to take place March 8 at 6 pm at Club Regina in Marina Vallarta. Becas Vallarta, A.C. is a non-profit, tax-deductible Mexican foundation charged with fundraising and administering a scholarships program for students in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico.
Even though most everyone agrees that education is the key to living a productive and satisfying life and that it should be available to every child, that is not always the case for Puerto Vallarta children. Many come from single parent homes, homes with five, six or more children or homes where the breadwinner makes only enough to provide the very basics of life. Those circumstances make it impossible for the children, no matter how bright and eager to learn, to continue their education past the mandated junior high. That is where Becas Vallarta A.C. comes in.
Considered a must-attend event by many, this year’s Becas Ball will feature silent auction tables with gifts from Becas Vallarta’s many supporters, including original art from Marta Gilbert, Meg Munro and Ada Colorina; and jewelry from Cassandra Shaw and June Rosen. Live music will keep the evening festive as you enjoy a four-course, sit-down dinner designed by Thierry Blouet of Café des Artistes, and other surprises.
This event is Becas Vallarta, A. C.’s largest fund raiser of the year with the funds used to give scholarships to over 400 students with great ability but limited economic resources. Scholarships start at the second year of junior high and run through senior high and university. Tickets are $120 USD or $1,500 MX per person.
