Act II Entertainment recently announced their upcoming production of Robert Harling’s play, Steel Magnolia, to be presented at their venue starting December 27 and continuing until January 18, under the direction of Danny Minnini.
The play is the result of Harling’s devastating loss of his sister as he struggled to cope with her death. This cathartic writing has given to us a beautiful story of six Southern women who have a bond that transcends normal friendships. It was successfully translated to the movie screen thanks to the 1989 film directed by Herbert Ross, starring Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis and Julia Roberts.
Steel Magnolias is the story of Truvy, Annelle, Clairee, M'Lynn, Shelby, and Ouiser. It is a story of a beautician, a caterpillar waiting to become a butterfly, a Southern Lady, a mother, a daughter, and a cantankerous curmudgeon who has a heart of gold.
The production features local actors Stephanie Bratnick, Patti Hirsch, Polly Stevens Cooper, Cherry Lorenzo, Mary Amelotte, and Heidi Pitts.
