Puerto Vallarta hosted the May 20th launch of the national tourism promotional campaign named Vive México, whose message is directed to the citizens of Mexico with the intention of inspiring them to travel throughout their country. It is also expected that similar promotional campaigns will soon be presented in emerging international markets, with the aim of reviving local tourism this summer, and also targeting international tourism long term, thereby helping to ensure the recovery of this vital industry during the next high season.
The Tourism Office representative, Oscar Rivero, believes that the local hotel industry is ready to work along with Riviera Nayarit to combine resources that will strengthen the campaign planned to promote our destination. Meanwhile, the Federal Government announced that they have designated 1,200 million pesos for the promotion of all destinations in the country for the remainder of the year, with beach destinations, colonial cities, magical towns and the three main cities of the country to be the priority.
The local hotel industry expects that with the United States having recently withdrawn their travel alert for Mexico, in combination with the successful implementation of both local campaigns, that we'll be able to attract more visitors and boost our tourism industry. In this regard Oscar Rivero said, "This is a very important announcement for the destination as this may start the two campaigns, national and international, to revive international tourism destinations like Puerto Vallarta."
