Municipal Government Provides One Million Pesos for Guadalupe Church Crown

Published Jul 9, 2009, 10:26am - (Updated Nov 28, 2011, 6:19pm)

Puerto Vallarta Mayor Javier Bravo contributed one million pesos to fund the final stages of remodeling the Guadalupe church crown, as a part of the program to revitalize the downtown area. Bravo, who was accompanied by government officials and members of local tourist associations, cited that this church is an icon recognized internationally and acknowledged the efforts of all the people who made the reconstruction of the crown possible.

Bravo said that the church means a lot for the tourist industry because it is the center of the destination, the image of a typical village by the sea in a unique country that adores the Virgin Guadalupe’s image. That is the reason that this government made the commitment to work at revitalizing this downtown landmark. Carlos Terres, who is in charge of the reconstruction works, mentioned some details of the reconstruction including the usage of a synthetic stone base applied to the stainless steel structure.
