The Festival Internacional de Danza Ibérica, an important Spanish contemporary dance festival that takes place in Querétaro every two years, has earned its place as one of the most important contemporary dance festivals in all of Mexico. Now in its fourth edition—to take place this month in said city—festival organizers have successfully approached Puerto Vallarta to become an alternate host city, for what is hoped to be the first of many successful collaborations.
The Festival brings together some of Spain’s most important dancers and instructors in a series of performances and workshops. In Puerto Vallarta, visitors and locals will be able to enjoy a series of dance galas, film screenings and photo exhibitions through a selection of all the events offered in Querétaro. And thanks to the many corporate and government sponsors behind this initiative, these events will be offered free of charge.
Local activities begin on Thursday, July 11 at 5 pm with a special exhibition of dance photography to take place throughout the Plaza Caracol shopping center on Medina Ascencio Ave. A curated selection of the Festival’s most captivating images will be on display for several days.
And from July 15 - 19 the Cuale Cultural Center will screen a selection of films made available by the Spanish Embassy, from 4 to 8 pm.
