ActII Entertainment opened the doors at its new location this past Saturday, to jumpstart a campaign to entice potential investors, and to inform the local performing arts communities of their ambitious plans for the following winter season. Spearheaded by Puerto Vallarta residents Elizabeth Ensor, David Restivo, and Danny Mininni, Act II Entertainment’s mission is to provide Puerto Vallarta residents the opportunity both to attend and to participate in quality presentations of a cross-section of the finest theatrical works available.

Act II has successfully presented both musical and non-musical plays at several venues around town. But things began aligning for the ambitious production company when they signed a lease at the corner of Basilio Badillo and Insurgentes, in Colonia Emiliano Zapata, where a three-space entertainment complex—a mid-size theater, a cabaret lounge, and a comedy space—will hopefully attract Mexican and english-speaking audiences as soon as they open, sometime in November.

The three-hour presentation event, open to the public, began at 7:30 pm, and was very well attended, making the second-story space’s gray cinder block walls disappear as guests and participating caterers filled the rooms. Several businesses supported the event with donated goods, which were auctioned. Singers and other entertainers that have participated in past ActII productions were present to entertain guests.

And for potential investors, technical specifications for the project were made available, along with information about some of the productions that will be featured in their next season. These productions include “Steel Magnolias,” a very successful play by the American writer, Robert Harling; Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera, “Jesus Christ Superstar;” and several concerts by local performers.

Construction of the entertainment complex is expected to begin shortly. For more information about ActII, please visit this link.
