Vallarta Botanical Gardens is making preparations for Diversity Day 2013, Western Hoedown, a special day for Puerto Vallarta’s gay community and its friends, to celebrate the joys of the Gardens together in a full day of fun. The event, open to everyone 18 years old and older, will take place on Saturday, January 26.
Many cities throughout the world host publicly-held Gay Pride events that are not only popular but also healthy economic blessings for those communities. This year, the theme is “A Return to Brokeback Mountain,” the iconic three-Oscar Academy Award–winning film of 2005.
Take part in a variety of fabulous diversions leading up to a sundown Bonfire of the Vanities and Tea Dance with DJ Jesús spinning the grooves. Other activities include:
- A River Jamboree
- Dance Performances
- Live Mariachi Music
- Vendors’ Mart
- Speed Dating
In light of this year’s theme, western wear is encouraged but not at all necessary—however, those in western costume will receive a special gift and be eligible for a Handsomest Cowboy and Prettiest Cowgirl contests.
Admission for Diversity Day is $250 pesos per person if purchased before January 10 and $300 pesos per person on or after that day. Vallarta Botanical Gardens Members do not receive complimentary entry on this day, but may purchase tickets at a 10% discount. Your event entry fee includes round-trip transportation from Lázaro Cárdenas Park and a welcoming cocktail upon arrival. Delicious food will be available for purchase, and the bar will be open all day at the Gardens’ Hacienda de Oro Restaurant.
All proceeds beyond event costs are a direct contribution to the Vallarta Botanical Gardens to help promote beauty, culture, conservation and diversity in Banderas Bay.
You may purchase tickets in person by cash or check at No Way José! Restaurant, Mailboxes, Etc., the Gardens themselves or through PayPal by clicking here.
The Vallarta Botanical Gardens are located less than 35 south of Puerto Vallarta.
