Vallarta Botanical Gardens recently announced a photography exhibition featuring works by Mike Laking, a digital photo artisan who specializes in flowers. The exhibition will open on Wednesday, January 9 with a reception 11 am - 5 pm, and will continue on display throughout the rest of January. The show, his first-ever solo exhibition, will showcase magnificent exotic haliconia, orchid and bird of paradise flowers, along with water lilies, gazania, amaryllis, hibiscus and other species. Laking uses computer graphic techniques along with his original photographs to emulate painting styles reminiscent of Georgia O’Keeffe.
Laking’s art has been featured in numerous Canadian exhibitions, galleries, articles and on TV. It has won several national and international awards and is included in collections across Canada, United States, Europe and Mexico. Those interested in viewing the exhibition can do so Monday - Sunday, 10 am - 6 pm. Keep in mind that there is a $60 peso admission to the Gardens.
