New York’s Metropolitan Opera wraps up the first half of this season’s “The Met: Live in HD” Saturday matinee broadcasts with Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece, “Aida,” this coming Saturday, December 15, at noon, at Teatro Vallarta. As in past broadcasts, an introductory lecture will be offered by Vallarta Lifestyles Publishing Group managing editor, Paco Ojeda, at 10:40 am. Tickets are $250 pesos per person.

A notable change in this upcoming screening is a switch to English subtitles. “We had expected a more sizeable turnout from the local, Spanish speaking community,” commented Teatro Vallarta manager, Salvador Luna. “On the other hand, the expat community has truly embraced the project. Broadcasting the opera with English subtitles is the least we can do in gratitude,” he added.

The Met’s Aida production of Verdi’s vision of ancient Egypt is grandly realized with the help of the opera company’s unparalleled musical forces, not to mention every single one of its stage elevators! With an approximate running time of 3:54, Aida is a not-to-be-missed tour de force for opera lovers and newbies alike. Live broadcasts resume January 12 with a sumptuous production of "Les Troyens," by French composer Hector Berlioz. Click here to see the entire season schedule.
