Colectika Opens its Doors to the Public With Reception

Beatriz and Kevin Simpson of Peyote People announced the official opening of their new venue, Colectika, with a reception featuring acclaimed Oaxaca artists Julia Fuentes and J. Juan Melchor. Originally from San Martin Tilcajete, Oaxaca, both artists will be present at the opening, which will take place on Wednesday, November 23, from 6 to 10 pm. A graduate of the Bellas Artes Oaxaca campus, Fuentes will demonstrate her unique painting technique, while Melchor will show how the traditional copal wood is carved into the fantastic animal figures that have been staple elements of Simpson’s collections. The artists will also be present at Colectika on the November 25 and 26 to answer questions and demonstrate why they are two of the most sought after artists from Oaxaca today.
