Pan American Torch Relay Route Announced

The Pan American Games torch will begin its local journey in Paradise Village on Friday, October 7, carried through the premises by important representatives of the local nautical community, including Paradise Village owner Graziano Sovernigo, Paradise Village Harbor Master Dick Markie and Junior Olympics champion Paul Moreno, one of the first students to participate in the Vallarta Yacht Club's Junior Sailing Program
The torch will continue its journey through Puerto Vallarta mid-afternoon, making a celebratory stop at Plaza Galerías, and ending at the Malecón (see map, below). Other important dates and venues, as listed on the official website, www.guadalajara2011.org.mx, include:

* Some local media outlets have reported that Open Water Swimming and Triathlon will, in fact, leave from a different location, presumably the Malecón, as requested by mayor Salvador González Resendis, but this has not been officially reflected on the Pan American Games' website.
