Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit have been officially designated as the host destinations for the upcoming 2012 Tourism Expo in Mexico, our country’s most important travel and tourism trade show. This was confirmed by Fernando Olivera Rocha, tourism secretary, who stated that the bid was won due to the quality of hotels and facilities available; airline connectivity to Puerto Vallarta, and of course, the Puerto Vallarta convention center where the event will be held.
The Secretary of Tourism said this morning that the bid presented by Jalisco and Nayarit (Puerto Vallarta / Riviera Nayarit) beat out the competition to be the new host destination, and that the decision is irrevocable. The motto with which the proposal was submitted to the judges "Two destinations, one paradise," highlights our destination’s 29,000 hotel rooms, and recently completed, 15-thousand square-meter international convention center that can host events with up to 7,000 participants.
Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit are two of Mexico´s leading beach destinations which have begun collaborating to promote themselves as an excellent convention setting to event organizers throughout the United States.
The first open call to host the national event involved 18 destinations, which included Boca del Rio, Veracruz; Mazatlan, Sinaloa; Acapulco, Guerrero; Guadalajara, Jalisco; and Mexico City.
