Without counting restaurants participating for the first time, this year’s Restaurant Week, May 15 - 31, will feature 12 restaurants offering three-course menus at $189 pesos per person (drinks and tip not included). In the fifth of a seven-part feature, we focus on the second group of $189-menu restaurants, wrapping up the series with all the restaurants participating in Restaurant Week for the first time.

The eighth annual edition of Restaurant Week to take place May 15 - 31 was officially announced to local members of the press through a conference held at Lobo Lui’s BBQ Shack, one of this year’s participating restaurants.
On Sunday, April 29th, at 3:30 PM, the Boutique Theatre Performing Arts Centre (330 Naranjo) will host the premier performance of the newly formed Telemann Recorder Ensemble. The instrument was a favorite of King Henry the Eighth, who owned 76 recorders over his lifetime, and the inspiration for several Bach and Handel compositions. Tickets, including refreshments are $250 pesos.
The Vallarta Yacht Club in Nuevo Vallarta will host its semi-annual fundraiser in support of the Junior Sailing Program on Saturday, May 5. The event, a three-course dinner with live entertainment, raffles and auctions, is critical to continue providing this unique opportunity to youth all over Banderas Bay 8-14 years old.
One of the most anticipated tournaments, The Symetra Tours (previously known as the Ladies Professional Golfers Association Futures Tour), is coming back to our destination, hosted by Riviera Nayarit for a third consecutive time next April 23 - 29 with $125,000 USD in prizes, the highest in the entire tour.
The Casamagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa will host the 8th International Altruism Festival on Sunday, May 6, starting at 6 pm. Over thirty local restaurants will offer a gastronomic treat, showcasing some of their dishes. Tickets for this annual tradition are $300 pesos per person in advance, $400 pesos at the door.
The second edition of Aguas Abiertas Riviera Nayarit will take place Saturday, April 21, 8 am, at Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. Approximately 300 swimmers in all categories are expected to participate.
Tuesday, April 17 will be the last day for the Malecon Sculpture Walking Tour for this season, which is the sixth year for this free tour. As has been the case every Tuesday morning at 9:30 since this season’s tours started on November 16th, no reservations are necessary and one must only show up at the Millennium sculpture next to Hotel Rosita at the north end of the Malecon.
Anybody hungry? More and more people look forward to our annual Restaurant Week event with anticipation. Local photographer Petr Myska will screen his documentary, Touch of the Blue Crocodile, which takes a close look at the American crocodile in the jungles of Mexico, one of its natural habitats at the Juan Luis Cifuentes Lemus Auditorium at the Centro Universitario de la Costa on Tuesday, March 20, at 6 pm. Now in its eighth season, the Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra has recently announced dates and venues for their Spring Concert: Sunday, March 25, 8 pm at the American School in Marina Vallarta, and Monday, March 26. 8 pm at the Paradise Community Center.
Rodolfo Choperena’s Galería Contempo welcomes Lucille Wong for an exhibition that will be inaugurated Friday, March 9, 6 - 9 pm, where her latest works will be on display. Born in Mexico City, the artist is known for her personal style in landscape and figural painting, with a strong orientalist undercurrent, in which her Mexican and Chinese roots shine through.
Galería Pacífico celebrates the legacy of the late Ramiz Barquet, considered by many to be the artistic patriarch of Puerto Vallarta, in part because of the eight monumental sculptures he created and donated to this city. The inauguration will take place Wednesday, March 7.
The Salsa & Mambo Festival is a 3-day event, from March 9-11, where attendees will be able to participate in dance education workshops, watch performances by nationally and internationally known performers, and meet new people during various social dancing opportunities.
