The Vallarta Botanical Gardens invites you attend the premiere of “Nosotros Somos Atlas (We Are Atlas),” an original theatrical performance created by the Terra Firma Summer Camp and also in association with the Banderas Bay Initiative and the University of Guadalajara’s CuCosta Campus. This colorful, immersive, theatrical journey will carry you through the grounds of the lush gardens, while raising vital questions about our responsibility to our environment, our community, and ourselves. The performance will take place this Friday, August 3, at 6pm.
This one of a kind performance is a culmination of two weeks of exploration and learning, where campers have participated in botanical education, circus and improvisation workshops, mask making, musical jam sessions, dance classes, and poetry projects. The entire show has been written and designed by the campers, including the score, script, set, and costumes.
Today we are constantly plagued by a growing debate over our environment. How do we care for the natural world, while maintaining our political and social systems? How can we learn from our environment in order to become richer, more aware members of society? There are no easy answers to these questions. But on Friday, a group of local teenagers from the Puerto Vallarta area will lift their voices up and join in the discussion.
The performance will begin at the main gate of The Vallarta Botanical Gardens (entry fee is 60 pesos per person for non-members). The Hacienda de Oro will be open after the performance for food, drinks, debate and celebration. For more information, please contact Stephanie Bratnik, Camp Director.
