Cabañuelas represent several traditional methods used by farmers to predict weather forecasts on a long-term basis. In our region, the term is used to refer to the, brief rain showers that fall in January, for example, a month in which rainfall is not expected. The date in which it rains fall "predicts" a specific weather pattern later on in the year. That said, there is no scientific basis behind cabañuelas.
