New Field Guide to Regional Fauna Debuts. Originally from Czechoslovakia, author Petr Myska has been documenting local flora and fauna since 2002. Both a zoologist and an experienced photographer, Myska has just completed “Viva Natura,” a field guide to the fauna of western Mexico. Designed to introduce the reader to the wealth of amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals of the region, the guide features thorough descriptions of 160 species, along with 325 full-color photos. Most praiseworthy is the fact that not only did the author provide both text and images for the book, Myska himself undertook the daunting task of doing graphic design and layout for the entire project! The end result is not only very visually attractive, it is also very easy to use. Available at local bookstores and through Amazon.com, the book features a companion website, www.vivanatura.org, where you will find additional text, videos and sound recordings.
