“I wonder how they made that?”  You can stop guessing how to prepare many of Daiquiri Dick’s signature dishes, by purchasing a copy of the newly released 2nd edition of: Sand in Your Shoes, The Daiquiri Dick’s Kitchen Workbook. The updated version of this popular cookbook has an expanded format with larger print and all recipes are in both English and Spanish.

This user-friendly book is full of over 100 recipes, as well as photos and interesting stories about one of Vallarta’s historic restaurants, and its owners, Peter and Tari Bowman. In addition to recipes for some of their most popular dishes such as the award winning Tortilla Soup, Sesame Crusted Tuna and Vanilla Bean Flan, there have been some new dishes added that were not in the first edition of the book.

The overall menu is constantly changing and evolving and features Mediterranean, Mexican cuisine with the influences of Asia. Using the recipes from Sand in Your Shoes, it’s now possible to create these dishes in your own kitchen. Chef Rafael Nazario wrote the first edition of this book in 2001, during his seven-year career at Daiquiri Dick's where he assumed the roles of chef and general manager. Nazario currently resides in Australia where he is pursuing other interests.

The history of Daiquiri Dick’s restaurant is 26 years strong, beginning when the Bowmans decided to live on the edge, by moving to Mexico to experience a new lifestyle. Their little hut on the beach that sold fish on a stick and frosty beer has evolved into a prestigious restaurant. The fish is just as fresh and the beer is just as cold, only now it’s served in a chic tropical decor exuding open-air elegance. The menu will continue to evolve in the future as it has in the past, ensuring that your next visit to Daiquiri Dick's with offer the options of time honored favorite dishes as well as a few new menu selections.
